Music in the Classroom
The music program at Glenview State School is an essential part of each child's development and growth as an individual. Children learn about the system of Music, they learn to enjoy, to perform and to have fun. All classes receive specialist Music lessons each week.
Instrumental Music (IM) – Year 3 to 6
Places in the Instrumental Music programs are offered to invited students in the areas of woodwind, percussion and brass (years 4 to 6) and strings (students in years 3 to 6). School instruments may be borrowed for the first year of participation in the program if they are available and in subsequent years students begin to provide their own instruments. In their first year students will join the Beginner Band and in their second year and beyond they may participate in the Concert Band. There is an annual IM levy of $30 for the first child and $20 for each additional child. Instruments on loan incur an annual service fee of $100 per instrument. Weekly IM lessons occur on Mondays in the music room. Band practice is Monday at 8am in the music room. The IM programs are all about learning and performing.
Instrumental Music- Strings– Year 3 to 6
Invited children have the opportunity to play violin/viola, cello and double bass.
